Multiplying Damage

For Skies of Glass, we’ve decided to tone down the overwhelming nature of damage multipliers from sources like Rhino’s Rush or First Strike (the replacement for Valorous). For this game, the damage for any attack may not receive more than a single multiplier to damage regardless of source. Multiple instances of multipliers will simply overwrite each other, not stack (with the exception of critical hits, see below). However, some mechanics related to these effects have been changed, and are outlined below. Only incredibly powerful monsters or incredibly powerful and unique items should ever create a damage multiplier greater than x2.

Multiplying Damage and Critical Hits: If you score a critical hit while multiplying your attack’s damage, the multiplication will instead increase your weapon’s effective critical multiplier by 1. For instance, if Bobo the Kithkin Rogue casts Rhino’s Rush then critically hits when he charges his opponent with his longsword, Bobo will simply resolve his damage as if his weapon had a x3 critical multiplier (base longsword critical multiplier x2 +1 from Rhino’s Rush.)

Charging and Lances: Lances have received an overhaul for this game, instead doubling base weapon damage instead of doubling all damage on a mounted charge. Spirited Charge has received a similar change, designed to keep mounted charges in check while still allowing it to be rewarding mechanically.
