Class Skills: The Battlecaster’s class skills are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Knowledge (all) (Int), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), Swim (Str)

Skill Ranks per Level: 4 + Int modifier.

All of the following are Class Features of the Battlecaster class. A character must sleep to regain uses of any ability limited in uses per day.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A battlecaster is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as with light and medium armors and shields (except tower shields).

Spellcasting: A battlecaster is capable of tapping their mana to learn and cast spells. Like other spellcasters, a battlecaster gains additional Mana Points as they level that may be allocated to any Pool the battlecaster has access to (see Mana Pools for more information).

Arcane Channeling: A battlecaster can use a standard action to cast any offensive touch range spell he knows and deliver the spell through his weapon with a melee attack. Casting a spell in this manner does not provoke attacks of opportunity. The spell must have a casting time of 1 standard action or less. If the melee attack is successful, the attack deals damage normally, then the effect of the spell is resolved.

Arcane Attunement: A battlecaster gains Shocking Grasp, Mudslap, Cure Light Wounds, Hydraulic Slam, and Inflict Light Wounds as imbued spells so long as the have the requisite mana pools.

Advanced Study: A battlecaster gains a +2 on Knowledge (arcana) and Spellcraft checks.

Bladecast (Ex): At 2nd level, a battlecaster can cast spells with somatic and material components even when holding a weapon or weapons in both hands. If the battlecaster holds anything other than a weapon, he must have at least one hand free to cast a spell with somatic or material components. Casting a spell in this way still provokes attacks of opportunity normally.

Combat Casting: Starting at 3rd level, the battlecaster adds half his class level to all concentration checks he makes. This ability counts as the battlecaster having Combat Casting for the purposes of qualifying for other feats.

Bonus Feats: At 4th level, and every four levels thereafter, a battlecaster gains a bonus feat in addition to those gained from normal advancement. These bonus feats must be selected from those listed as combat, item creation, metamagic, or mana feats. He must meet the prerequisites for these feats as normal.

Quick Cast: Beginning at 5th level, the battlecaster can cast one spell each day as a swift action, so long as the casting time of the spell is 1 standard action or less. He can use this ability twice per day at 10th level, three times per day at 15th level, and four times per day at 20th level.

Spell Power: Starting at 6th level, if the battlecaster injures an opponent with a melee attack in an encounter they gain a +2 bonus on their caster level check to overcome that opponents spell resistance for the remainder of the encounter. This increases to +3 at 11th level, +4 at 16th level, and to +5 at 18th level.

Fighter Training: Starting at 10th level, a battlecaster counts 1/2 his total battlecaster level as his fighter level for the purpose of qualifying for feats. If he has levels in fighter or another class that grants fighter feats (such as Spellblade), these levels stack. You may retrain previous bonus feats from spellchannler as if you possessed these fighter levels at the time.

Greater Arcane Channeling: Starting at 13th level, a battlecaster can cast any offensive touch spell they know as part of a full attack action, and the spell affects each target they hit in melee combat that round. Doing so discharges the spell at the end of the round, in the case of a touch spell that would otherwise last longer than 1 round.

Counterstrike (Ex): At 17th level, whenever an enemy within reach of the battlecaster successfully casts a spell defensively, that enemy provokes an attack of opportunity from the battlecaster after the spell is complete but before the effects take place. This attack of opportunity cannot disrupt the spell or prevent its effects from taking place.

Arcane Steel (Su): At 20th level, the battlecaster masters the art of blending spell and steel. Whenever the battlecaster casts a spell after using their Arcane Channeling or Greater Arcane Channeling ability, that spell gains the benefits of Spell Enhancer, so long as it is cast before the end of the turn. Whenever the battlecaster casts a spell before using their Arcane Channeling or Greater Arcane Channeling ability, they gain a +2 competence bonus on all attack and damage made while using those abilities.
