Skies of Glass
Sand is a granular material made up of finely divided rock and mineral particles. Smaller particles are known as silt while larger particles are known as gravel. There are two basic varieties of sand. The first and most common occurs due to the passage of water, especially on the coast. The movement of the water breaks down larger rocks into smaller ones and eventually results in sand. The other type occurs around volcanoes and results in black sand. This type is made up from cooled lava, or pumice, that is broken down through the actions of the wind and water.
Sand is a fairly common material that sees special usage in the creation of Glass.
