You must succeed on a ranged touch attack with the ephemeral globule to strike a target. On a successful attack, a creature struck by the spell is automatically dazzled for 2d4 rounds by the prismatic blast in addition to suffering a randomly determined effect below. Opponents make their saving throws against this spell at a -2 penalty.

Note that the damage caused by the Red, White, and Black portions of a prismatic blast can do double damage (or double negative levels, in the case of Black) on a successful critical hit. The effects caused by the Green and Blue portions are not enhanced by a critical hit.
