Campaign of the Month: January 2015
Skies of Glass
Bite of the Werebear
- Transmutation (polymorph)
- Level: Red/Green 5
- Components: V, S, M (A tuft of grizzly bear fur)
- Casting Time: 1 standard action
- Range: Personal
- Effect: Gain aspects of the werebear
- Duration: 1 round/level
With an inhuman roar, fur ripples across your skin as your face extends and expands. Powerful muscle builds under your skin, and you become a half-bear creature.
Your height immediately doubles, and your weight increases by a factor of eight. This increase changes your size category to the next larger one. You gain a +6 size bonus to Strength and a +4 size bonus to Constitution. You gain a natural bite attack that deals 1d8 points of damage (if size Large, 1d6 points of damage if size Medium) plus 1-1/2 times your Strength modifier if used as a primary natural attack. Your bite attack only suffers a -2 penalty when used as a secondary attack (as if you had the Multiattack feat) and gains a +2 enhancement bonus. If you already possess a bite attack, this spell instead augments it. Your size modifier for AC and attacks changes as appropriate to your new size category (see Table: Size Modifiers). This spell doesn’t change your speed. Determine space and reach as appropriate to your new size.
If insufficient room is available for the desired growth, you attain the maximum possible size and may make a Strength check (using your increased Strength) to burst any enclosures in the process. If you fail, you are constrained without harm by the materials enclosing you – the spell cannot be used to crush you by increasing you size.
All equipment worn or carried by you is similarly enlarged by the spell. Melee weapons affected by this spell deal more damage (see Table: Medium/Large Weapon Damage). Other magical properties are not affected by this spell. Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature’s possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage. Magical properties of enlarged items are not increased by this spell.
Multiple magical effects that increase size do not stack.
