Closely related to Catfolk, leonin are feline humanoids resembling lions, and call the great plains of the Twin Kingdoms in Coricona home. The leonin host one of the largest standing armies in their racial capital, Kha Nar, the second half of the Twin Kingdoms. Leonin are natural leaders and their culture is often highly honor-based and religious, with most following the divine first Kha, Kha Dakan. Leonin society puts great significance on position, but supports a highly fluid leadership structure, with only the Kha’s place normally being outside challenge. Competitions for leadership positions within a leonin community, especially Kha Nar, are often seen as holy events, with both victor and loser taking pride in the competition alone. Leonin often prefer martial classes, particularly divine martial classes, that play off their natural leadership and strength, such as marshals and paladins. Leonin tend to be Lawful Good or Lawful Neutral, and often support a social structure that values honor, divine teachings, and justice to those truly deserving. Leonin tend to be White.

Leonin tend to be slightly taller than humans, and often have a light to medium tan coat (though black coats aren’t unheard of) consisting of short, stiff hair. Unlike many humanoid species, lions are truly sexually dimorphic, with the males having a soft and ‘puffed out’ mane about their neck and shoulders, unlike the females. The male mane varies considerably among individuals, from a scruffy collar to an impressive mantle that may run down the shoulders and back. Mane color can vary between light tan and black. Occasionally several different colors may be present in a mane, some even having red and gold colors. In general, this mane gets longer and darker with age, though it occasionally gets paler for those who pursue the divine arts.


Leonin characters posses the following racial traits.

  • Natural Attacks: Leonin can make two claw attacks that deal 1d4 points of damage and a secondary bite attack that deals 1d6 points of damage.
  • Pack Leader: Leonin gain a +2 racial bonus on Survival checks and always treat Diplomacy as a class skill.
  • Automatic Languages: Common, Dakkra. Bonus Languages: Aven, Celestial, Catfolk, Kith, Kip.

Class Skills: The leonin’s class skills are Craft, Diplomacy, Knowledge (nature), Knowledge (religion), Perception, Survival, and Sense Motive.

Skill Ranks per Level: 4 + Int modifier.

All of the following are Class Features of the Leonin racial level.

Natural Leader: A leonin gains a +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy checks and a +2 racial bonus on Sense Motive checks.

Lion’s Rally: Twice per day as a swift action, a leonin may grant an ally a move action. This action takes place immediately and on the Leonin’s turn, but is otherwise the same as a character’s normal move action on their turn. The ally must be able to see or hear the Leonin to benefit from this ability. A character may only benefit from Lion’s Rally once per turn. If an ally chooses not to take the extra move action, it is lost

Weapon Familiarity: Leonin may take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency for the Steelclaws.
