Altered: As a swift action, the wielder may cause the small spines on the weapon to begin rapidly growing out into jagged adamantine splinters. While active, melee attacks made with Splinter deal an additional 1d6 points of piercing damage. Additionally, the wielder may launch the spines of adamantine off of the weapon’s form, letting the wielder take attack actions to use Splinter as if it was a thrown weapon with a 20-foot range increment (not gaining the additional piercing damage as noted above). All physical damage dealt while being thrown this way is converted to piercing damage. This otherwise functions exactly like Blood Wind. Activating this ability is a swift action and it can be used for up to 6 rounds per day, though the rounds do not need to be used contiguously. Deactivating this ability is a free action.

Splinter has the Hardened and Reinforced and Bludgeoning Modifications.
